Clarinet Lessons in San Diego North County

What to Expect with Clarinet Instruction

Students build their technique and enhance their musical expression through solo music, youth symphony repertoire, and band repertoire. Each clarinet lesson is based on what you, the student, are working on. A typical break down of a lesson usually goes like this:

  1. Long tones

  2. Scales

  3. Etude/ensemble music

  4. Solo music

  5. Sight reading/duets

Private lessons are always adjusted to meet a students goals. If you have specific music or notes you are struggling with don’t be afraid to ask for help. I encourage students to find music that interests them and bring it into their lesson. Students are also welcome to browse my personal library for pieces to learn.

Practice expectations

Students are expected to maintain a regular clarinet practice schedule as is adequate to make steady progress. Your practice sessions should reflect what was covered in the lesson.

Performance Opportunities for Students

Performing is a great way to share the beauty of music with others and an essential part of the learning process. To support this I host winter and spring performances for all students. Check out past student performances here
